President of National Assembly Arrives Home After Attending APPF in Australia
(Phnom Penh): President of the National Assembly Heng Samrin returned home safely from the 28th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) held in Canberra, Australia under theme “Parliamentary Partnerships for 2020 and Beyond” attended by 20 countries and 10 observer countries.
The NA President was invited by the Australian Parliament to attend the Executive Committee Meeting and delivered keynote address at the opening. The Australian Parliament and its delegates expressed their appreciation to the National Assembly of Cambodia and their congratulations to Cambodia for hosting APPF27 successfully.
During the meeting, the President of National Assembly requested that the Australian Parliament promote parliamentary relations and promote Cambodia’s potential in trade, investment and tourism while providing more scholarships to civil servants and Cambodian students.
The 28th APPF Annual Meeting concluded with 19 resolutions as a mechanism to further strengthen cooperation, promote the role of Parliament in strengthening peace and security, strengthen multilateral institutions to implement free trade, and jointly respond to climate change.
The next APPF will be held in the Republic of Korea in 2021 and in the Kingdom of Cambodia in 2020.
