NBC Governor: Cambodia’s Economic Growth Continues at 7.1% With Strong Macroeconomic and Financial Stability
(Phnom Penh): Chea Chanto, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, confirmed that Cambodia’s economic growth continued to grow at 7.1% with strong macroeconomic and financial stability despite challenges and risks.
He made the remarks at the annual conference on achievement of 2019 and set direction for 2020 held on January 16-17, 2020, attended by about 700 staff members of NBC.
The conference was organized with the aim of celebrating and disseminating achievements of the National Bank of Cambodia in 2019 and direction for 2020 towards more accomplishments for the country.
The governor said that the inflation rate was low and exchange rate was stable as the economy enjoyed strong growth in capital flow which stimulated trade and economic activities and international reserves have continued to rise at a remarkable rate, contributing to economic resilience and healthy banking sector.
He further added that the banking system has been modernized as the financial technology has quickly evolved, in particular in payment system that makes financial services more convenient, efficient and safer.
