President of Cambodian NA Meets Vice-President of Vietnamese NA in Australia
(Australia): On the occasion of the 28th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) meeting in Australia, Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, met Tong Thi Fong, Vice President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on January 15 at the Australian Parliament.
In the meeting, the Vice-President of the National Assembly of Vietnam has invited the President of the National Assembly of Cambodia to visit and participate in some matters of the Vietnamese National Assembly in 2020 which will host the 41st ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the ASEAN-AIPA Meeting.
Tong Thi Fong invited other members of Cambodian National Assembly to attend the meeting in 2020 in Vietnam where culture, economy and education will be the topics to be discussed. Her Excellency also praised the achievement including the content and meeting organization of the 27th annual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Assembly (APPF) hosed by Cambodia in 2019.
Heng Samrin accepted the proposal of the Vietnamese side and tasked the working group to continue working with the Vietnamese counterpart. He also congratulated on the achievement of the economic, trade and investment cooperation that the two countries have achieved in recent years, in particular on the increase in bilateral trade, worth about $ 4 billion in 2019 and is expected to reach $ 5 billion in the near future.
He said that the Cambodian National Assembly and Senate highly appreciated the role of the Vietnamese National Assembly as the 41st President of the AIPA and are ready to attend this event and other related meetings to contribute to the National Assembly in Vietnam to host the event successfully.
