Department of Anti-Economic Crime Burns Over 100 Tons of Counterfeit Goods
(Phnom Penh): The General Commissariat of National Police’s Department of Anti-Economic Crime held a demolition ceremony to burn more than 100 tons of counterfeit products under the presidency of Teng Savong, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Interior, the high representative of Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior.
Lieutenant General Chan Vanthoeun, Director of the Anti-Economic Crime Department, said that his department’s forces have burned counterfeit items for 32 times so far.
Today’s burning items included over 100 tons of various brands of cigarette packs, various brands of cigarette pack holders, various brands of cigarettes, tobacco, cigarette-making equipment, cosmetics, office supplies, incense and mosquito repellant incense sticks.
The crackdown on illegal counterfeit products was carried out in accordance with the recommendation of Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, under direct supervision of General Neth Savoeun, Director General of the National Police, and with coordination from prosecutors of Phnom Penh and Kandal Courts and from relevant departments and local authorities to make economic crime police department perform its duties successfully.
The crackdown aims at eliminating economic crimes and products which can harm people’s lives and contributing to the protection of individual property rights, global stability, and security.
