US Declares to Abide by Cambodian Gov’t Roles and Responsibilities for Ensuring Security for People
(Phnom Penh): Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Kheng met with newly-appointed US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia W. Patrick Murphy.
W. Patrick Murphy, the new US Ambassador to Cambodia, said he respects the roles and responsibilities of the Royal Government of Cambodia as well as the ministries involved in ensuring the security of the people.
He stated that “we respect the roles and responsibilities of the Ministry of Interior and the Royal Government, especially in maintaining security for the Cambodian people, including us.”
During the meeting, he further added that he and Sar Kheng had very productive and close discussions and committed to strengthening law enforcement to prevent wildlife trafficking, human trafficking and child exploitation, fight against transnational crime, and some work.
At the same time, Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng said that on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Cambodia-US relations, the two sides will look for good programs to represent the long-term relations and to further strengthen the ties.
