Public Works Ministry Seizes Over 500 Cars without Import Taxes
(Phnom Penh): More than 500 cars without imported taxes are being held in customs warehouses along the Win-Win Boulevard in Phnom Penh after they were seized by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport on Thursday also disseminated the activities of the inter-ministerial working group that ran checks on some 500 vehicles without import taxes, license plates, fake license plates, malfunctions, and irregularities.
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport pointed out that more than 500 vehicles were seized, including more than 200 were seized by mobile customs. There are clear target data from the technology system, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and the General Department of Customs and Excise.
“This effort also contributed to a 34% increase in vehicle tax revenue in 2018 compared to 2017,” the ministry said.
