1.2 Million Cambodian Migrant Workers Not Slave Victims, Ensured Gov’t
(Phnom Penh): The Royal Government of Cambodia is paying close attention to protecting more than 1.2 million labourers working abroad through Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Royal Government of Cambodia and some governments, according to the statement of the government spokesman on May 9.
In the statement, Cambodian workers who are working overseas have benefited from the implementation rules and conditions of International Organization for Migration (IOM), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The government spokesman pointed out that Cambodian labourers who work outside the country are not under the state of slavery as some developed countries have trafficked people to fill their labour shortage.
