(Phnom Penh): Prime Minister Hun Sen presided over the tree-planting ceremony in Techo Sen Russey Treb Cambodian Royal Academy Park in Preah Vihear province, on May 18, 2018.
Techo Sen Russey Treb Cambodian Royal Academy Park, an area with forest resources, wildlife and antiquities, covers a total area of 114.35 square kilometers, established by Royal Decree NS/RKT/0414/436 dated April 17, 2014.
Prime Minister Hun Sen, at the ceremony, stated that Techo Sen Russey Treb Cambodian Royal Academy Park is not only a target for conservation, but also for research since this area is a Cambodia’s historical legacy. As claimed by President of Royal Academy of Cambodia Sok Touch on the establishment of a milk factory on the area, Prime Minister Hun Sen announced that his family and he donated $100,000US to buy dairy cows to support milk production.
After conservation and development, the area will become a tourist destination which would attract a large number of visitors, said the Premier.
He added that due to the increasing demand of timber and forest crimes, an endeavor has been taken by the Cambodian government to reforest and increase forest cover. It requires participation from the local to protect and preserve the forest by giving them land to grow profitable crops.
Prime Minister Hun Sen reiterated that the government would stop granting economic land concessions (ELC) to any companies, but provide to citizens to increase crop yields.
The Prime Minister announced that a total fund of $150,000US was raised today to preserve and develop the Techo Sen Russey Treb Cambodian Royal Academy Park.
