(Phnom Penh): Ambassador of Switzerland to Cambodia Ivo Siebber paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Kheng on May 18, 2018.
Ambassador Ivo Siebber pledged to continue to assist Cambodia, in particular, on sub-national reform, promoting the agricultural sector, and cooperating with all stakeholders in Cambodia to help push the country forward.
Speaking at the meeting, he confirmed that the Swiss government has strategic, longer term partnerships with the Royal Government of Cambodia.
“Switzerland will continue to work with partners and the Royal Government of Cambodia to continue to support the sub-national administration, especially the sub-national reform,” the ambassador said.
In response, Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng expressed his deep gratitude toward the Swiss government and the Swish people for assisting Cambodia, providing support to Kantha Bopha hospital and sub-national reform.
Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng, on the occasion, informed the ambassador that the Royal Government of Cambodia has introduced three reform strategies including Public Financial Management Reform, Public Administration Reform and Decentralisation and Administrative Reform which the Ministry of Interior has been implementing and established a secretariat to ensure effective coordination of the reform process.
The sub-national administration reform, however, faces some challenges, in particular financial and human resources, Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng notified.
