PM Hun Sen Advises Journalists to Maintain Peace and Fight Against Fake News
(Phnom Penh): Prime Minister Hun Sen, during the annual meeting with journalists, gave two advises to all reporters. His advises are:
– All reporters participate in maintaining peace. Peace is everything. Without peace, nothing can be achieved;
– All reporters participate in maintaining stability of macro-economy through fighting against fake news.
At the same time, he also ordered national and sub-national administrations to create mechanism to release information. Minister or governor is responsible for the dissemination of information. For instance, comments of ministers to reporters after meetings.
The Prime Minister also advised officials not to treat journalists as enemies but they instead must be regarded as an indispensable partner in development.
Prime Minister Hun Sen made the remarks while presiding over the annual meeting with journalists on Tuesday evening, January 14, 2020 with participation of nearly 5,000 journalists at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center, hosted by the Ministry of Information.
This is the 4th meeting between the Prime Minister and journalists which a significant forum to listen and provide feedback, and to strengthen solidarity and cooperation in the field of media.
