(Phnom Penh): H.E. Hang Puthea expressed his discontent toward some news media which publish its news with bad intention after the press workshop for journalists on election’s information dissemination.
“NEC is regretful since some journalists are deliberately dishonest; they use a set of questions and prepare answers in order to make respondents lose their awareness and answer as what the journalists want them to,” NEC spokesperson H.E. Hang Puthea said.
“In this modern period, journalists have to be neutral because they are consistently monitored by the public,” H.E. Hang Puthea added, “it is your honor and dignity to stay neutral and the news has to be short, precise and powerful.”
H.E. Hang Puthea recognized journalists’ influence. Their work can influence the society in any way. Therefore, he requested all journalists not to make the situation more intense.
Three agendas were put to discussion in the workshop this morning – information dissemination during election campaign phase; information dissemination on one day before election day and on election day; and complaint resolution regarding campaigning and election.
