(Phnom Penh): Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his joy for the government will not follow comments made by international community suggested to reduce the number of civil servants and increase fuel taxes.
The Prime Minister stated that the government will fulfill its responsibility accordingly with its capability and resources. The government will not reduce its civil servants as they are forces moving Cambodia’s economy forward. Such comments made by the international community to increase tax on fuel is no difference from strangling the Cambodians.
The increase of fuel taxes will increase the possibility of prices of other goods and services to soar and consequently, turn the economy upside down.
Phay Siphan, secretary of state and spokesman for the Council of Ministers, quoted from Prime Minister Hun Sen from the cabinet meeting on Friday, January 12, 2018.
“This is the pride of the Royal Government led by Prime Minister Hun Sen who is aware of the situation and needs real Cambodian people who have more practical experiences than outsiders,” Mr. Phay Siphan said.
